Faces Of Music

This is entertainment, an idiosyncratic selection of images of composers and musicians with a brief audio commentary and a clip of their music, arranged chronologically by their date of death.

Only a few dozen of the thousands of talented musicians are included here. They were selected because: I like them, I found a particularly good image or clip, they represent a style or era, or they just couldn't be left out.

The selections from the 18th and 19th centuries are all classical. The selection is much broader in the 20th century, but international music is not included, and women are under-represented.

The information is from reference books and the web. There is a great deal more information on the web about musical genres, individual musicians, and even particular works. For any serious purpose check serious sources. rc
